Wine education

Jim Harré, your host, is a wine expert who sits on a number of New Zealand and international judging panels. Jim can offer groups of four or more a tutored tasting of six wines. This includes the history of the variety as it relates to New Zealand, how to taste wine, what to look for in a variety, how the wines will match food, and a regional overview.

After the tasting, the remaining wines are served with a matched dinner, allowing you to see the changes to the wine and food flavours according to the combinations.

For those wishing to go a step further, Jim can also take groups of four or more to various wineries in the nearby Waipara wine region. Here, he offers tutoring and tasting at the vineyards before returning to the Lodge to conduct a tutored tasting of six wines, followed by a matched dinner.

Cost:

A tutored tasting including dinner is an additional $125 per person (minimum of four people).

A tutored tasting including Waipara vineyards visit and dinner is an additional $375 per person (minimum of four people).

The standard room rate still applies.
